A Kinect in Every Living Room?

A Kinect in Every Living Room?

If there was a Kinect in every set top box in all the living rooms around the world, we'd never need to search for that damn remote again! You know, that germ infested coffee table accessory that you fumble with in the dark when trying to change a channel or control the volume. That's what The Daily is reporting from a bunch of sources familiar with the subject.

I for one think it'll definitely be a standard within the next 5 years.  Integrated voice and gesture controls for all electronic device in the home I say! Where do I sign up? This of course is just a rumour as The Daily is not coming clean with their sources, but they do state that Microsoft is in talks with Vizio and Sony -- of all competitors! to have Kinect tech integrated into their line of television sets. Future here we come!

This could be terrible.

Multiple Kinects tend to conflict with eachother a little.  If multiple devices start to broadcast IR constantly like the Kinect does, then they will all interfere with one another.

Using a Kinect with your TV might become harder if your TV also has it's own "always-on" dedicated kinect built-in, they may interfere.  And then if your standalone Bluray player and PC also have their own dedicated always-on Kinects built-in, it's all gonna interfere more and more.

Multiple remote controls work because they are rarely ever used at the same time, but the Kinect isn't like that - it's continually broadcasting it's IR signal while in use.

i think all the IR might make it say cant recongize cant recongize you know.
