The good folks at ZigFu have created a great way for people to set up the things they need in order to start using their Kinect right away. The package will install OpenNI, NITE and Sensor Kinect with just the click of a button.
This will definitely come in handy if you're new to the game of have to configure multiple workstations in a short amount of time. They developed a Unity package as well for gaming and their own Portal you can use on your Desktop. Read more »
What an amazing contribution to the indy Kinect games out there! I doubt Microsoft even has the guts to develop a first person shooter for their wonder toy. The daunting task of undertaking such an endeavour was no problem though for Alex Poolton. I need to have one of these. Seriously. Everyone should have their own mechanical monkey hanging from their walls that will always wave back when you wave to it. Always there when you'd like to jam a little bit of "Monkey See, Monkey Do" just to pass the time. In all seriousness, the tech behind this cute little mimicking monkey is quite impressive. What's also impressive is that it was all accomplished using cheap hardware components that are readily available in a variety of stores with open source software and a toy monkey purchased from Ebay for $1!
